This piece was created for a magazine article. I used oil paint on illustration board. I'll tell you how it was created. I used a piece of illustration board and coated it with gesso. I used a large brush to create a nice texture on the surface. Next, I put some burnt sienna oil paint in my butcher tray and thinned it with turpentine. The drawing was already fixed on the surface of the gesso before I began to rub, with a rag, the paint over the areas that I wanted the colour to appear. Next, I used a bit of turpentine to thin and pick out areas of the painting. Finally, when the painting was dry, I added a bit of Pelikan inks ( yellow, blue, red and orange ) to various spots where I wanted some different colours to appear.
